DNW COMPOSTING INSTRUCTIONS

What to put in the COMPOST BIN:

Almost any KITCHEN WASTE including FRUITS AND VEGETABLES, FISH, MEAT, CORN HUSKS, RINDS, PAPER TOWELS, SMALL BONES, COFFEE GROUNDS, ETC.

Farm Animal Manure is allowed (not dog waste).

You may put waste in Certified Compostable Biodegradable Bags (never in plastic).

What NOT to put in the COMPOST BIN:

DOG WASTE, LARGE BONES, ANY KIND OF PLASTIC

The system heats to over 130 degrees for at least 3 days in a row and will kill any weed seeds, pathogens, etc.  Please put your waste material in the bin marked “COMPOST MATERIAL HERE” and not in the bin with the metal roof marked “NOT HERE”.  It is also important that you not touch the controls, fan or temperature probes at the west end of the bins.
